FOR THE HOMECOMING GAME TODAY, the first 275 Faith Lutheran HS students to the game will be allowed to sit in the bleachers on the south end of the football field. We will be allowing students into the south bleachers at 6:30 pm. HS students MUST show their Faith Lutheran ID or a picture of their Faith Lutheran ID to be allowed into the bleachers on the field. FILM CLUB IS AN EXCITING AFTERNOON CLUB where students can watch movies with friends and gain insight into their production. We start at 2:45pm on Thursdays in room 118 and end at varying times depending on the movie.
SERVICE HOUR OPPORTUNITY! Batterman Elementary School is hosting their annual fall festival and needs some volunteer help! You would serve Friday, October 21st from 4-8. They need volunteers to help with games, hand out candy, collect tickets and other fall fun. All athletes must be registered for sports in Register My Athlete. You can access RMA at:
www.registermyathlete.com. If you don’t have an account, please create one. RMA Instructions/Physical

If you do already have an RMA account, please log in and click on start/complete registration for the
2021/2022 school year.
REGISTERING FOR SPORTS IN RMA
You can register multiple children under your RMA account. Please do not create a new account for each child. Pay special attention to the sports you are registering your athlete for. Please make sure you are registering for High School sports. The sports listed with a .MS in front of it is for MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY.
You can register for multiple sports all at once during your initial registration. (4/23)
TRANSFER STUDENTS

If you are transferring from out of state or from another school you MUST complete your transfer in
Register My Athlete ASAP. DO NOT WAIT. The approval process for transfer students can take weeks or months to get completed & approved. This could affect your athlete participating in their season. (4/23)

MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
MS GIRLS LACROSSE FALL ball starts on Tuesday October 11th from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at Village Green Park Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls. No experience is necessary and equipment is available to borrow. Come try out a new sport before the spring season starts! ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING MIDDLE SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL and learning about the justice system? MS Mock Trial is open to all middle school students (6th, 7th, and 8th graders), whether you are brand new to the competition or you have attended previously. This competition is meant to be engaging, informative, and mind opening. All the coaches for the competition will be high school students with experience in mock trial. They will guide you through practices, deciphering the case, preparing the case, and presenting at competition.
Practices will be held on campus on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 3:30 - 5:00 PM from October 31 - November 30th. (There is no practice the week of Thanksgiving) The competition is held on December 3rd from 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM.
Registration opens on Crusader Connect on October 6 and will close after the first 80 spots are full or by October 14th.
The cost is $100 per student (includes snacks, lunch on the Competition Day, and competition materials).

DEVOTIONS
“And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities that you did not build, and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant….” (Deuteronomy 6:10-11)
In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. The Lord gave Israel a home. He gave them land. However, He gave them so much more than that. He gave them a land full of plunder! They won’t build their own cities, but will take the cities built by the Canaanites. They won’t have to fill their houses with furniture, but will move into houses already furnished by their previous owners. They won’t have to dig cisterns or plant orchards. The Canaanites already did all that hard work.
On the one hand, this is the reality of military conquest. Israel will conquer a land and this means inheriting whatever their enemies leave behind. On the other hand, this is an example of God’s gracious ways. God loves giving gifts to His people. And you don’t earn a gift, or work for it, or make it for yourself. You simply receive and enjoy it!
Whenever sinners interact with God, they expect no gift—only a wage, something for which you must labor. This is the point of the Divine Service. We draw near to God week after week to be surprised by grace—to receive anew His Gifts. The baptized receive a kingdom that they did not build. They receive an eternal reward that they did not earn. They don’t work as servants, but rather sit at the King’s table as His family.
As we experience God’s grace in the Divine Service, we learn to see His grace throughout our lives. We come to see everything as a good gift! We do not deserve food, clothes, house, family, friends, or the like. We deserve nothing but hell. Since Jesus died for all, God gives to all men these good things.
And, of course, as we experience God’s goodness in this life, we wait to enter at last our Promised Land—the new creation—where we will experience the fullness of God’s goodness. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.
Heavenly Father, God of all grace, govern our hearts that we may never forget Your blessings but steadfastly thank and praise You for all Your goodness in this life until, with all Your saints, we praise You eternally in Your heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
