A Message from the Director
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School. Appropriately, our theme for the school year is Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His love endures forever. (Psalm 107:1) At Faith Lutheran, we have much to be thankful for. This year we open our chapel/performing arts center, a new dance studio, a golf practice facility and tennis courts.
Yet no matter how excited we get about our growing facilities, what is most important at Faith is not new. What is most important has been in evidence at the school throughout its 30 year history on four different campuses and has resonated through two millennia: God loved the world so much that He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us from our sin. That core message is present in everything we do, whether in the classroom, stage, field, gym or concert hall.
We believe a Christian education is by nature a quality education. Our high school sends 90% of its graduates on to college. And while we could choose otherwise, our students take the Nevada High School proficiency tests prior to graduation. Our students have a 99% pass rate on those tests. Fifty percent of the class of 2007 qualified for Nevada’s Millennium Scholarship. Our middle school students generally perform in the 70th percentile or better on Stanford Achievement tests. The innovative scheduling we use provides students with the opportunities to take more classes and at the same time provides our older students with more flexibility
Our students are involved. Faith has a long tradition of excellence in the fine arts, particularly in music. Three bands, two hand bell choirs and two vocal choirs offer students choices that suit their abilities. Our drama program mounts four productions a year. For those athletically inclined, students can participate in wide variety of sports. Middle school students participate in the Red Rock Athletic Conference and last year our boys' basketball team captured the national Lutheran grade school championship. Our high school competes at the 3A level and has more than 24 state titles in school history. We are the defending state champions in boys basketball. We look forward to becoming a 4A school for the 2009-2010 school year.
Is Faith the right place for your student? Please join us for one of our open houses or call the school to arrange a tour. Your student is welcome to spend the day with us to get a taste of what life is like at the school. Choosing a school for their children is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. I hope you will see that our commitment to Christian values, our dedication to academic excellence, and our desire to help your students become well-rounded citizens make Faith Lutheran a great choice.
In His Service,
Kevin Dunning
